Community Routes
This is a podcast filled with therapists, psychologists, authors, and regular people where we talk about mental and emotional health. We take complex topics and break them down, often over snacks and coffee. Our goal is to provide free, digestible mental health discussions to help build a more healthy, supportive community. Join Samuel, Sarah, and Julie every other week on Tuesdays (or whenever you feel like listening)! Our segments: “Off the Beaten Path” is a special episode that features interviews with the community. ”Unpack That” involves discussing books and concepts about mental health. ”Trail Mix” takes a variety of concepts that are asked to the cohosts and discussed as a group. ”Deep Breath” is a shorter, brief mental message for the week.

Episode 94: ReEngage
Wednesday Jul 05, 2023
Wednesday Jul 05, 2023
The gang gets together after a long break for Samuel and what it feels like to be back. We discuss reengaging, what that feels like, and some ways to succeed.
The poem Sarah shared:
Wild Geese You do not have to be good. You do not have to walk on your knees For a hundred miles through the desert, repenting. You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves. Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine. Meanwhile the world goes on. Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain are moving across the landscapes, over the prairies and the deep trees, the mountains and the rivers. Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air, are heading home again. Whoever you are, no matter how lonely, the world offers itself to your imagination, calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting — over and over announcing your place in the family of things. – Mary Oliver

Deep Breath 23: Container
Tuesday Jun 27, 2023
Tuesday Jun 27, 2023
Join Julie as she talks about a new term this week! Container is a practice to strategically let something wait for now. It is knowing our limitations so that we don't do too much too fast and re-traumatize ourselves. There are lots of practical things that can serve as a container, but also some more creative ways for hard things to be held -- in time, spaces, and in trusted safe people who walk with us. Give your nervous system some support as you use container to give yourself some extra room to breathe.
